Community Event: 2010 Diversity & Inclusion Symposium

“We all should know that diversity makes for a rich tapestry, and we must understand that all the threads of the tapestry are equal in value no matter what their color.”
-Maya Angelou

The City of Virginia Beach, Department of Human Resources will be holding the 2010 Diversity & Inclusion Symposium on October 13, 2010. The goal of this symposium is to create a menu for inclusion through diverse perspectives and powerful conversations. This half-day event was organized as a way to celebrate National Diversity Awareness Month.

Dr. Crystal Arlene Kuykendall , a nationally known speaker, talk show hostess and best-selling author with great insight on the challenges of human rights, diversity and multiculturalism will deliver the key-note address. You won’t want to miss her dynamic spirit!

A casual lunch will be provided in a “World Café™” atmosphere, followed by powerful conversations on topics of diversity and inclusion. It’s also an opportunity to reconnect as partners in  dedication to human rights, equal employment opportunity, diversity and inclusion. Feedback  provided by symposium attendees will assist in finalizing the City’s 2011 EEO, Diversity and Inclusion Plan for our workforce.
